Compensation: Up to $110,000 DOE (negotiable based on experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking an exceptionally skilled Litigation Legal Secretary to support a busy, fast-paced civil litigation practice. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with hands-on, practical knowledge of civil litigation procedures, court rules, and critical deadlines.
Our long-tenured secretary recently retired, and we are looking for a reliable, highly competent professional who can step in and provide immediate, high-level litigation support. This position is 100% on-site and available as either direct hire or temp-to-hire for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support to multiple attorneys
- Accurately manage and maintain court calendars, including all statutory and court-ordered deadlines
- Prepare, revise, format, and proofread a wide range of litigation documents, including:
- Pleadings
- Motions
- Discovery requests and responses
- Legal correspondence
- Coordinate and complete filings in state and federal courts, both electronic and physical, ensuring strict compliance with court rules and procedures
- Assist with corporate counsel work as needed, including document drafting and formatting
- Schedule and coordinate depositions, hearings, client meetings, and trial logistics
- Maintain meticulous electronic and physical case files with exceptional attention to detail
- Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Litigation Legal Secretary (required)
- Demonstrated, working knowledge of civil procedure, court rules, and real litigation deadlines
- Experience in a litigation firm alone is not sufficient without substantive litigation secretary responsibilities
- Proficiency with legal software, document management systems, and electronic filing platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously
- Dependable, professional, and able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Top Qualifications We're Looking For
- Strong litigation experience as a legal secretary (minimum 3 years with a litigation focus)
- Proven experience managing deadlines, filings, and court documents throughout all stages of litigation
- Exceptionally organized with strong attention to detail
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary up to $110,000, depending on experience
- Compensation is negotiable based on skill set, background, and depth of litigation expertise
